Ten miles north of Jerusalem lies a town called Ramallah, or when translated into English, means "God's Hill". It is said that Jesus Christ passed through this town many times on his way to Jerusalem. Crusaders in the Holy Land, in the 11th through the 13th centuries, built a fortified castle in Ramallah that overlooked the coastal plains of the Mediterranean Sea.

Modern Ramallah was founded in the mid-1500s by the Hadadeens, a tribe of brothers who were descended from Yemenite Christian Arabs. The Hadadeens, led by Rashed Haddad, arrived from east of the Jordan River near what is now the Jordanian town of Shobak. By the beginning of the twentieth century Ramallah was an active agricultural town. It was declared a city in 1908 and had an elected municipality as well as partnership projects with the adjacent town of al-Bireh. In World War I, a few locals joined the Turkish army, a number of whom were killed in battle. The Friends Boys School became a temporary hospital during the War. The British Army occupied Ramallah in December 1917, and the British Mandate in Palestine began in April 1920 and was to last until 1948.

Men from descendants of the original Hadadeen starting leaving the town of Ramallah, Palestine, leaving their families behind, and started arriving in New York about the 1900s. They came to work hard, save money, and return to their families in Ramallah. The long separation of the families during World War II and Arab-Israeli War of 1948 put an end to the transient emigration, and men began to bring their families with them and settle permanently in the United States. By 1952, there were over 3,000 emigrants from Ramallah who were related to each other by blood or marriage and living in various cities of the United States.

Today, there are over 30,000 people living in the United States of America. They are concentrated in such major cities and metropolitan areas such as San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego, Santa Rosa, and Los Angeles CA; Jacksonville, FL; Houston, TX; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; Washington, DC; Knoxville, TN; Lexington, KY; Greensboro, NC; Birmingham, AL; Cleveland, OH; Little Rock, AR; Buffalo and Hempstead, NY; Milwaukee, WI; and South Plainfield, NJ. Of course, our hometown Ramallah has its share of original decedents of this Christian family who all can claim a common family lineage, and a common motto:

We are from ONE Family, ONE Town, and we have ONE Cause.
